-packing and moving boxes to storage area
-cleaning – sweeping, washing, etc
-joint compounding and taping (if anyone knows how)
- window cleaning (if anyone knows how)
*Bring a weed whacker if we have one.

Meeting Minutes June 17th
Meeting with: Kayleigh, Kyle, Emma, Josh, Sophie, Meg, Zoe, Ethan, Kehben

FOUR PHYSICAL PROJECTS:
Kehben filling in the rest of the Bees
1. ANNEX
-Remove walls in basement/stop progression of mold
-Remove fire-escape from outside of building b/c pulling down wall
-These would be best for warm weather, don't require money for materials and need people power
2. FIVE AND TEN
-Clean out trash
-Seal up insulation so we aren't breathing fiberglass
-Re-do wiring
Considerations:
-Ok for colder weather
-Would like to have this space for Gabfestry
-Summer is a people power time, but we can probs gets lots of help from community w/this space so probably wouldn't need to bring in people from away
-If hiring anyone for wiring probably will be Tigger
3. QUIMBY GRANT ATTIC + KITCHEN WORK
-Will know August 1st if we got it
-$35,000 for materials for:
1) Finishing out attic into four bedrooms: three existing bedrooms, sewing space to a bedroom, could make it so the four rooms are lofted so we could fit seven in attic (we would want to do this work in September/October so the spaces are ready for people to stay for the winter)
2) Work on kitchen: would take wall out so that the mudroom becomes kitchen space (this can happen in winter/spring)
4. 101 COURT ROOF RESTORATION + PAINTING:
-Our insurance co: we are super on the level with and communicate w/really well esp. through Matt
-We pay a bunch for nice business insurance for all of our spaces
-Big move to kick older houses off of insurance, so there is a push on us to fix our roof esp. over barn + studio (roof over main part of house has a bit longer)
-Also want us to take flaky paint off house b/c probably has lead in it
-This would be a really good project w/a bunch of people, but visitors don't like doing this project
-Kehben wants to write a grant to pay a Machias local who really knows what they are doing to take care of it
-We need to continue to show progress in coming months
-Need to figure out where funds for these projects will come from
-This is the time of year the insurance company usually pushes b/c insurance renews July 1st, they can send letters demanding giant projects w/in one weeks time

-Has been some discussion of having one party be local folks and one party be folks from away
-Kehben - Five and Ten will draw lots of local interest and support, will be really wonderful to give local folks a sense of ownership
-Kehben - Annex will not get nearly as much interest from local folks, would be a much better project for folks from away
-Priority goes to Five and Ten space b/c we really need that space for Gabfestry
July 15th - 21st as potential work party week:
-This is the same week as launch for Kickstarter, which is totally pivotal to us, the attention we get in the first week/last days is the MOST important to meeting the Kickstarter goal
-Kehben - Would it be damaging for us to have our attentions torn b/n the launch and hosting visitors?
-Josh - Would it be helpful to have 10 more people here to digitally push the launch into the world?
-Kayleigh - They will also draw attention to Kickstarter as they go back to their own places after work party
-Kayleigh - Might make experience for our volunteers richer if they get to do physical work AND be involved in the work of the launch
-Kehben - might this work party be a good party for local folks? Then we don't have to host. -Also, it would be difficult to be teaching people how to launch as we launch
-The digital/physical divide: should we allow Bees to fall into two work realms or push back against this divide that has occurred a couple of times already? Emma - is this just naturally people's preferences?
-Kyle - can we check in and make sure that everyone is ok w/two weeks of upcoming summer months being devoted to work parties/visitors
-Group agrees this is alright
-Emma - thinks that local folks probably would be into volunteering for a day, but won't have the time available to volunteer for five days
-Maybe we just have a three day weekend festive work party at the Five and Ten for locals
-Ethan - we could also set it up that last weekends in July and first weekend in August are open for locals to come and help us get things done
-Josh likes this idea so we have time to reassess and decide how to move forward

-SO if there are visitors who hang around for all of August there will be plenty of things for them to work on
-Josh likes idea of folks coming to 29-4 and then maybe staying for whole month of August
-Kehben - what do we need to make Five and Ten useable as meeting space for Gabfestry?
-Electricity - lights for a few days
-we can tarp off part of space

-need to talk to Hillary b/c she is our letterpress liaison + she needs to schedule w/Bernie
-May need to be folks here willing to do a little redesign in Photoshop
